Third Edition: Mic Mac
On 25 October 2025, La Guinéolese presented the third edition of its Annual Celebration in London, bringing together culture, music, fashion and the distinctive heritage of the SAPE in an evening dedicated to African cultural exchange.
The 2025 edition welcomed Congolese music and cultural icons
Djo Balard, the “Roi de la SAPE”, and Yaya Loketo, creating a memorable meeting of music, performance and style on the London stage. The evening marked Djo Balard’s first live appearance in the UK, while his dynamic presentation alongside Yaya Loketo became one of the defining moments of the celebration.
Beyond the performances, Mic Mac brought together cultural influences from across Francophone and wider Africa, including Congo-Brazzaville, Congo-Kinshasa, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. The programme celebrated the richness of African cultural expression through music, SAPE, textiles, gastronomy and community.
The evening was also documented by Elvis G. Makouézi, author of Dictionnaire de la SAPE, whose post-event account captured the atmosphere, cultural significance and standout moments of the celebration.
